Sculpture will allow students to explore traditional and contemporary sculpture materials and processes emphasizing the elements and principles of design. Nonfunctional and functional three-dimensional art forms constructed from a variety of materials will be produced. Students will examine and use additive and subtractive, construction, and in the round methods of working throughout the class. Course goals will include learning and using technical skills, understanding the physical and expressive possibilities of sculptural materials, and safe use of tools for various techniques.

- PLEASE bring in any materials you need to finish this project
homework:
Sketchbook #6: WE NEED STUFF due Monday, Nov. 28th
- Now that you have a very general idea of what you and the rest of the class will be doing, we need stuff! I'm not talking recycled materials (unless you project specifically calls for it... and then we'll have to chat). Really COOL stuff. Paper stuff is good: old photographs, interesting magazines, postcards. *Things that have a narrative quality.
- If you bring in one photograph I'll give you a .5. If you bring in a whole pile of photographs I'll give you a 4. You get the picture.
- PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU ASK BEFORE YOU TAKE THINGS. WE WILL NOT BE RETURNING THE MATERIALS WE USE.
- I might recommend taking a little field trip; thrift/antique stores, old book shops, recycle centers, library sales, relatives, etc. usually have really cool stuff.
Sketchbook #5 - Assemblage Artist Presentation due Wednesday, Nov. 16th
